Natuna Regent Encourages Civil Servants to Support Community Welfare Through BAZNAS

Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan officially launched a zakat awareness session in collaboration with BAZNAS Riau Islands Province at the Natuna Regent’s Office on Monday (July 13), calling on civil servants across the regency to take part in strengthening social welfare through voluntary charitable contributions.

The outreach program was designed to promote a better understanding of zakat as a religious obligation for Muslims while highlighting its broader role in supporting community development and improving the lives of those in need.

During her address, the Regent encouraged all government employees in Natuna to channel their infaq through BAZNAS Natuna, emphasizing that even small, consistent contributions can make a meaningful difference for vulnerable members of the community.

She noted that BAZNAS has become an important partner of the Natuna Regency Government in delivering a wide range of social assistance programs. These include mass circumcision services, support for orphans, free medical check-ups, Ramadan aid for low-income families, and various other humanitarian initiatives that have directly benefited local residents.

Building on the success of these programs, Cen Sui Lan invited civil servants receiving additional employment allowances to voluntarily contribute a minimum of Rp25,000 each month. Employees in other salary groups were encouraged to donate according to their financial capacity. She stressed that the initiative is based on the spirit of mutual cooperation, where collective participation can generate a far greater impact than individual contributions alone.

The Regent also asked heads of regional government agencies (OPD) to share the initiative with their respective staff and encourage participation. According to her, when many people contribute together, the accumulated funds can significantly expand the reach of BAZNAS’ community programs while also becoming a lasting act of charity for every donor.

She expressed confidence that all funds entrusted to BAZNAS would continue to be managed responsibly, transparently, and professionally, ensuring that assistance reaches those who are genuinely entitled to receive it.

Through stronger support from the region’s civil servants, the Natuna Regency Government hopes BAZNAS will be able to broaden its assistance in areas such as social welfare, education, healthcare, and humanitarian services, allowing more families across Natuna to benefit from its programs.
