KPK Visits Natuna: Not to Be Misinterpreted, but to Support National Strategic Programs in Border Areas

The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) of the Republic of Indonesia conducted a visit to Natuna Regency on Wednesday (April 8), holding a Coordination Meeting on Corruption Prevention and inspecting Strategic Public Procurement (PBJ) projects.

The delegation was welcomed by the Regent of Natuna, Cen Sui Lan, who also led the coordination meeting held at the meeting room of the Natuna Regent’s Office on Jalan Batu Sisir Bukit Arai, Bunguran Timur District. The meeting was attended by the Director of Coordination and Supervision of KPK, Brigadier General Agung Yudha Wibowo; Head of the Korsugah Task Force, Uding Juharudin; Head of the Korsupdak Task Force, Salemuddin Thalib; along with their team, members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), the Regional Secretary, and heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD).

In her opening remarks, Cen Sui Lan expressed appreciation for the KPK delegation’s visit. She emphasized that preventive efforts are more important than enforcement alone. Therefore, raising awareness, disseminating information, and providing continuous guidance are essential—especially given the frequent changes in regulations, particularly those related to state financial management.

She also urged all heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations to carefully follow the information presented during the session, in order to achieve more transparent, efficient, and accountable regional financial management in line with proper governance standards.

On the same occasion, the Director of Coordination and Supervision of KPK, Brigadier General Agung Yudha Wibowo, explained that Natuna was chosen as the first location for the coordination meeting with the aim of helping position Natuna as a progressive, prosperous, and corruption-free northern gateway of Indonesia.

He added that another reason was the need to address existing governance issues that still require improvement. Additionally, given the large number of national strategic programs implemented in the region, he emphasized that the Natuna Regency Government should not be indifferent to these development initiatives.

He further clarified that the KPK’s visit to Natuna should not be misinterpreted by any party, including the media. By clearly outlining these objectives from the outset, he hoped that public communication would remain focused and unbiased—centered on supporting better regional development, particularly in strengthening anti-corruption efforts, ensuring clean and transparent financial management, and preventing legal violations.
