Located at the Wanita Building, Jalan Batu Sisir Bukit Arai, Ranai, the Vice Regent of Natuna, Rodhial Huda attended the the Intensification and Integration of Special Area and Postpartum Family Planning Services Seminar, Friday (13/09) morning.
Rodhial stated that this activity is a joint effort to reduce the national stunting rate to 14 percent by 2024.
One of the programs that is inseparable from these efforts includes family planning services for couples of childbearing age (PUS), to provide knowledge and awareness of the importance of pregnancy planning which aims to prevent the birth of a generation at risk of stunting.
In addition, family planning services are also carried out as an effort to fulfill information and reproductive health for PUS, including those in special areas, such as disadvantaged, remote, border and island areas.
Furthermore, Deputy for Family Planning and Reproductive Health of BKKBN RI, Wahidin reported that the stunting body condition will affect the quality of human resources in the future, while stunting itself is a condition of failed growth and development of children due to malnutrition for a long time followed by repeated infections, characterized by length or height below standard. However, short children are not necessarily stunted but stunting is definitely short.
Wahidin explained, based on the 2023 Indonesian Nutrition Status Study (SSGI) and the 2023 Indonesian Health Survey, the stunting rate had decreased by 0.1 percent, from 21.6 percent to 21.5 percent.
As for Riau Islands Province, in 2023 the stunting rate reached 15.4 percent, and in the same year according to SSGI it fell to 11.5 percent.
Natuna Regency The prevalence of stunting in 2023 decreased by 1.9 percent from 18.0 percent in 2022 to 16.1 percent in 2023.
