In her remarks, Cen Sui Lan welcomed the festival and expressed hope that it would provide a space for creativity, broaden people’s knowledge, and strengthen cooperation among the local government, educational institutions, literacy communities, and the wider public.
She also hoped the event would serve as an opportunity to further encourage a love of reading, helping nurture a generation of Natuna residents who are knowledgeable, open-minded, strong in character, and ready to contribute to the development of their region and the nation.
To support this goal, Cen Sui Lan said the local government would remain committed to improving the quality of human resources through various initiatives, including strengthening reading habits, developing library services, and organizing literacy activities that bring together different groups in the community.
Meanwhile, Head of the Natuna Regency Library and Archives Office Erson Gempa Afriandi explained that the festival was organized to commemorate Library Visit Day, which is observed annually on September 14. The event also aims to encourage greater public participation in literacy activities while introducing the community to the various programs and services offered by the library.
Erson added that the three-day festival would be held in the courtyard and hall of the Natuna Regency Library and Archives Office, with a target of attracting 600 visitors.
He also expressed his appreciation to the National Library of Indonesia for its support, particularly through funding provided under the 2026 Non-Physical Special Allocation Fund (DAK). This assistance helped make the festival possible and provided the community with more opportunities to take part in a range of literacy activities. (Pro_kopimnatuna/S)
