Free medical services reached residents of Natuna on Sunday (September 20) as the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI) marked its 81st anniversary with a community health program at Raden Sadjad Air Force Hospital (RSA). Natuna Regional Secretary Boy Wijanarko Varianto attended the event and highlighted the program as a meaningful example of collaboration between the TNI and the regional government in responding to community needs.
Boy particularly welcomed the cleft-lip surgery, saying that access to specialist care could bring not only physical benefits but also greater confidence for children as they grow. The program was supported by 13 medical personnel from the Indonesian Air Force Health Center through the medical team of Dr. Suhardi Hardjolukito Air Force Hospital in Yogyakarta, including dental and oral specialists, a plastic surgeon, an anesthesiologist, and other supporting medical personnel.
By the end of the program, 11 patients had undergone cleft-lip surgery, while 130 residents received general health examinations, 23 received dental checkups, and 12 children took part in the mass circumcision program. The event also included the distribution of 200 free food packages.
RSA Ranai Air Force Base Commander First Marshal TNI Onesmus Gede Rai Aryadi said the initiative reflects the TNI’s effort to bring its services closer to communities, including those living in border areas such as Natuna.
