Natuna Regent Sends Off Regional Team for 2026 Kepri Provincial Sports Week, Urges Athletes to Uphold Natuna’s Name and Strive for Excellence

Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan officially sent off the Natuna Regency contingent for the 6th Riau Islands Provincial Sports Week (Porprov) 2026 at Sri Serindit Building in Ranai, Natuna, on Friday afternoon (October 25).

The event was attended by the Deputy Regent of Natuna, the Chair of the Natuna Regency Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), heads of vertical government agencies, leaders of relevant regional government agencies, the Chair of the Natuna Regency Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), as well as athletes and team officials.

In her remarks, Cen Sui Lan encouraged all athletes and officials to give their best performances and strive for achievement, bringing pride to Natuna and upholding the region’s good name at this provincial-level sporting event.

She also reminded the contingent to maintain their health, discipline, enthusiasm, and teamwork throughout the competition. She stressed the importance of upholding sportsmanship, respecting opponents, and following all competition rules. Every match, she said, should be an opportunity to demonstrate their abilities, gain valuable experience, and build the motivation to keep improving.

Cen Sui Lan added that the local government and the people of Natuna hoped the contingent would achieve the best possible results. However, she emphasized that success was not measured by medals alone. It was equally important for every athlete to return home with valuable experience, a sense of pride, and renewed motivation to grow and represent Natuna in future sporting events.

Meanwhile, Natuna KONI Chair Fahmi reported that the contingent would compete in 23 of the 30 sports featured at the 2026 Porprov. These include aquatics, athletics, lion dance, billiards, basketball, volleyball, football, badminton, chess, rowing, futsal, wrestling, karate, kempo, Muay Thai, archery, sport climbing, pencak silat, sepak takraw, taekwondo, Tarung Derajat, tennis, and table tennis.

Fahmi also reported that the Natuna contingent comprised 338 people. Of these, 234 were covered by regional government funding, while the remaining 104 were participating with independent funding.

Despite the limited budget, Fahmi emphasized that the circumstances had not dampened the contingent’s determination to achieve success and bring honor to Natuna (Pro_kopimnatuna/Dn)
