Natuna Deputy Regent Jarmin has called on residents and business owners across the regency to actively support the Economic Census by providing accurate and reliable information, stressing that quality data is essential for shaping effective development policies.
The appeal was made during a visit and interview conducted by officers from the Natuna Statistics Indonesia (BPS) at the Deputy Regent’s official residence in Ranai Darat, East Bunguran District, on Monday morning (July 27).
During the meeting, Jarmin reaffirmed the Natuna Regency Government’s full support for the national economic census, describing it as a key initiative to map the region’s economic potential and provide a stronger foundation for future development planning.
He emphasized that reliable data is critical for the government to design policies that truly reflect the needs of local communities.
“Without accurate information from the field, it is impossible to formulate development programs that effectively address the real conditions faced by our people,” he said.
Jarmin explained that the census would provide a comprehensive picture of economic activity across Natuna, covering businesses of all sizes—from micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) to larger industries.
He added that the data would also help identify investment opportunities and support the development of priority programs aimed at strengthening the economy of communities in Indonesia’s border region.
Recognizing the importance of the exercise, the Deputy Regent encouraged all residents, particularly business operators, to welcome census officers and provide complete and truthful information throughout the data collection process.
He stressed that public cooperation and honest reporting would play a vital role in improving the quality of development planning, accelerating economic growth, and enhancing the welfare of the people of Natuna.
Representatives of BPS Natuna, expressed their appreciation for the strong support shown by the Deputy Regent, saying they hope it will encourage greater public participation and cooperation during the census period.
