Natuna Deputy Regent Jarmin attended the assessment of Sepempang Village as a candidate for the Anti-Corruption Village pilot program at the Sepempang Village Meeting Hall, Bunguran Timur District, on Tuesday morning, 15 September.
The event was attended by representatives of the Riau Islands Provincial Inspectorate, the Anti-Corruption Village Task Force of the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), members of Forkopimda, heads of relevant regional government agencies, the district and village heads, the head of the Village Consultative Body (BPD), and community leaders.
Jarmin said villages play an important role in government, development, and public services. He emphasized that the use of village funds should be based on transparency, accountability, professionalism, integrity, and community participation.
He also viewed the assessment as an important step in building an anti-corruption culture starting at the village level. The Anti-Corruption Village program is aimed at encouraging better governance based on honesty, responsibility, and public involvement.
Jarmin hoped the process would help improve the quality of village governance. He also said the local government would continue to welcome public feedback and strengthen monitoring and evaluation.
Meanwhile, Auditor of the Riau Islands Provincial Inspectorate Said Karwadi Nopian explained that the provincial government had formed a team involving several regional agencies to identify and verify candidates for the Anti-Corruption Village program across the province.
Three villages in Natuna were proposed as candidates: Sepempang Village in Bunguran Timur, Semedang Village in Bunguran Batubi, and Kelarik Village in Bunguran Utara. The team will conduct verification and observation to determine which villages will proceed to the field assessment.
From July to September 2026, the team had also assisted Sepempang Village in preparing for the assessment. Based on the team’s observation, the village government had shown strong commitment, along with support for community participation.
Said Karwadi hoped the assessment process would help Sepempang achieve the expected results and become a model for anti-corruption practices in Natuna. (Pro_kopimnatuna/D)
