Located at Astaka Tanjung Persenangan Field, Pulau Tiga District, the Regent of Natuna, Wan Siswandi, attended the Dendang Piwang Cultural Event, Sunday (28/07) evening.
Also attending the event were the Head of the Bakamla Ship, several Heads of Regional Apparatus Organisations, the Chairman of the Natuna Regency Customary Malay Institute (LAM), the District Head of Pulau Tiga, the District Leadership Communication Forum, village heads and BPDs in Pulau Tiga District, community leaders, religious leaders and the local community.
Wan Siswandi said in his speech that the local government deliberately organised this activity program aim of preserving local culture in each district.
This is because over time, he said, local culture has faded and been eroded by the progress of the times and modern culture which often contradicts the identity of the Malay community in particular.
For this reason, it is hoped that all people will continue to support and revive local culture, so that it can be preserved from generation to generation.
Given the importance of efforts to preserve culture as stated above, Wan Siswandi will continue to strive and hope that this activity can continue to be an annual agenda in the future.
On the same occasion, the Chairman of the Natuna Regency LAM, Wan Suhardi, said that Pulau Tiga District should feel grateful, considering that this area has quite a lot of historical heritage of Malay culture, including the discovery of old tombs that are still very well preserved.
Wan Suhardi also explained that one of the local cultures that should be preserved includes eating berdulang. This habit has so many positive meanings, including equality and togetherness which can create a sense of brotherhood and cohesiveness.
He hoped that various community habits which are a pattern of life inherited by previous generations, can be maintained as a form of maintaining the identity of the Malay community which is full of politeness, togetherness and based on religious values.
In Dendang Piwang’s cultural art performance this time, the invitees and visitors were entertained with various art performances, including dances performed by elementary, junior high and high school students as well as several dances from art studios in Pulau Tiga District. (Prokopim/arf).
