Good cooperation between the Natuna Regency Government and the Batam River Basin Agency (BWS Sumatera IV) is important to ensure that water infrastructure projects meet local needs. This is especially important for supporting agriculture and other sectors, while helping provide lasting solutions to local challenges.
The visit of the BWS Sumatera IV Batam team to Natuna was an important step towards closer cooperation. It also helped strengthen coordination to ensure that future water infrastructure projects are better planned and suited to the needs of the region.
Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan shared this hope during the handover of state-owned assets as a grant for the Groundwater Irrigation Network Development in Natuna Regency. The event took place at the Meeting Room of the Natuna Regent’s Office on Jalan Batu Sisir, Bukit Arai, Ranai, on Monday afternoon, 26 October.
The event was attended by the Regional Secretary of Natuna Regency, heads of related regional government agencies, and Head of BWS Sumatera IV Batam Nedy Hidayat, along with his team.
Cen Sui Lan expressed her appreciation for BWS Batam’s support for Natuna’s development. She hoped that both sides would maintain good communication so that their programmes could be better connected, from planning and implementation to supervision.
She also stressed the need for BWS programmes to better match local conditions and community needs. With careful planning and good coordination, water infrastructure projects can provide greater support for farmers and help strengthen the agricultural sector in Natuna. (Pro_kopimnatuna/Sr)
