Natuna Regional Secretary Boy Wijanarko led a coordination meeting on accelerating stunting reduction and improving public health from the Zoom Meeting Room on the second floor of the Natuna Regent’s Office, Bukit Arai, on Friday morning, 11 September.
The meeting was attended both in person and online by several local officials, including the Assistant Regional Secretary, heads of relevant regional government agencies, sub-district heads, and heads of community health centers (Puskesmas) across Natuna.
In the meeting, Boy Wijanarko said that, based on the direction of the Natuna Regent, efforts to address stunting in Natuna were still below the expected level.
He stressed that reducing stunting should not be the responsibility of the health sector alone. All relevant parties, including the Health Office, Food Security Office, sub-district and village governments, and the community, need to contribute according to their respective roles and capacities.
The meeting also discussed challenges in the field, unmet targets, and possible solutions. Boy Wijanarko called for regular reports on program progress, its impact, and current conditions every three or six months to support more measurable evaluation.
Meanwhile, Natuna Health Office Head Hikmat Aliansyah reported that the achievement in reducing the stunting rate in Natuna in 2025–2026 was still below the expected target.
He explained that the Health Office’s role in addressing stunting accounts for around 30 percent, while the remaining 70 percent depends on contributions from other sectors.
For this reason, Hikmat emphasized that efforts to reduce stunting and improve public health require cooperation across sectors. One of the challenges in the field is the lack of cross-sector collaboration and community involvement. (Pro_kopimnatuna/Endang)
