As part of the 81st anniversary of the Indonesian National Defense Forces (TNI), the TNI continues to hold social and environmental activities as part of its commitment to the community.
In Natuna, the anniversary activities included the planting of 1,000 candlenut trees and a social service program in Sedarat Baru, Bunguran Barat District, on Wednesday morning, 9 September.
Natuna Deputy Regent Jarmin attended the event along with members of Forkopimda, DPRD members, heads of relevant regional government agencies, the Bunguran Barat District Head, representatives of women’s organizations, and local residents.
Jarmin expressed his appreciation to the Commander of Kodim 0318/Natuna for organizing the activities and hoped they would benefit the people of Sedarat Baru.
He said the program, held across Indonesia, was not only beneficial for the environment but also reflected the TNI’s contribution to the community.
Jarmin also hoped the planted trees would be properly cared for and grow well, so that their harvest could provide economic benefits to the community in the coming years.
Meanwhile, Commander of Kodim 0318/Natuna Colonel Inf. Ruruh Sejati explained that candlenut trees were chosen because they are relatively easy to maintain and can withstand dry conditions. The trees can also provide environmental benefits and economic value when managed sustainably.
The tree planting and social service activities reflect the TNI’s efforts to protect the environment, strengthen social care, and build cooperation between the TNI, local government, and the community. (Pro-kopimnatuna/S)
