Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan conducted a direct inspection of the Nutrition Fulfillment Service Unit (SPPG) kitchen in West Pulau Tiga District, located at RT 001/RW 001, Pulau Tiga Village, on Sunday (March 1) afternoon.
The visit aimed to ensure that the operational infrastructure of the SPPG meets required standards and is fully prepared to support one of the national priority programs initiated by Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, namely the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) program.
Beyond providing adequate nutritional intake for school-aged children, the initiative is also designed to strengthen national food security and improve community welfare.
During the inspection, Cen Sui Lan carefully reviewed the kitchen facilities, including cooking equipment, food storage areas, and the meal distribution system to local schools. She stressed the importance of hygiene standards, proper building conditions, and sound operational management to ensure that meals remain clean, safe, and nutritionally balanced.
One of the Regent’s key concerns was the allocation of MBG kitchens by area to improve efficiency. Given the considerable distance between villages in West Pulau Tiga District, effective distribution planning is crucial to maintaining food quality upon arrival at schools.
In response, the Natuna Regency Government has proposed the addition of 16 MBG kitchens specifically for disadvantaged, frontier, and outermost (3T) areas. The proposal is considered essential to ensure equal access to nutritional services for all students, without compromising quality or timely delivery.
In addition to infrastructure readiness, Cen Sui Lan emphasized the importance of involving local farmers and livestock producers in supplying raw materials. This approach is expected to stimulate the local economy while ensuring access to fresh, high-quality food ingredients.
The regional government remains committed to continuously evaluating and strengthening supporting facilities to help foster a healthy and high-quality generation in Indonesia’s border regions. (Pro_kopim/Patli)
