On Tuesday afternoon (25/11), the Regent of Natuna continued his working visit to Midai Island by conducting an on-site inspection of the Pioneer Port, the main gateway for local community mobility. The port plays a crucial role as both a passenger hub and a central point for distributing essential goods.
During the inspection, the Regent ensured that port facilities remain in proper condition to support daily public activities. He emphasized that reliable sea access is a fundamental pillar for economic growth and social stability across Natuna’s outer islands.
The Regent also engaged in dialogue with port officers and residents waiting for incoming vessels. Through these discussions, he received several inputs regarding ship schedules, loading and unloading safety, and the need to improve passenger waiting areas.
He stated that the local government is committed to maintaining optimal operations at Midai’s Pioneer Port. This includes ensuring smooth maritime services connecting Midai with other regions in Natuna Regency as well as the wider Riau Islands Province.
The Regent also affirmed that all feedback from residents and port authorities will be followed up. Coordination with the central government and shipping operators will be essential to guarantee the continuity of sea transportation services.
In addition to checking technical aspects, the delegation inspected surrounding areas to assess potential development of supporting infrastructure. Strengthening land and sea connectivity is considered a priority to boost the economic activities of local communities.
This visit reflects the regional government’s efforts to ensure that public services in island districts continue to run effectively. With improved port facilities, mobility for residents of Midai is expected to become smoother, and the distribution of goods more efficient. (Prokopim/Patli)
