The geographical area of the Natuna Regency which is 99% in the form of waters, thus creating a pattern of life for most coastal communities is fishermen for generations. In view of that, priority local government work programs must be adjusted to support the improvement of the welfare of fishermen.
The above was conveyed by the Regent of Natuna, Wan Siswandi in his remarks when attending the activity as well as symbolically handing over assistance to fishermen, Thursday (29/08) morning at the multipurpose building of Pulau Tiga District.
To the three groups of fishermen who received several forms of ikat fishing gear assistance at that time, Wan Siswandi hoped that the recipients of the assistance could make maximum use of the assistance to increase catches which were expected to have an impact on increasing income.
As for some forms of supporting facilities for fishermen’s activities that were handed over this time, including in the form of Solar Panels, fish holding boxes, Transom solar Panels, fiber, Transom Mount Transducer (fish location / activity tracking device), Antenna, Sailing Light, Radio Tranceiver and other supporting tools worth Rp. 191,600,000 for each fishermen group.
Given that development responsibilities are not only the mandate of the regional government, Wan Siswandi also invites the community to work hand in hand to support regional development according to their respective functions.
He also advised that all assistance can be maintained and utilized according to its function, so that these various facilities can be used for a long time.
The Sub-District Head of Pulau Tiga, Wan Efendi, on the same occasion also expressed his gratitude to the regional government, both for the visit and the various assistance handed over this time.
He hopes that with the handover of several supporting facilities for fishermen’s activities, in the future the catch of fishing groups operating in his working area can increase.
