Natuna Regent Opens 2026 Regent’s Cup, Encourages Athletes to Celebrate Natuna’s Anniversary Through Sportsmanship and Achievement

Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan officially opened the 2026 Natuna Regent’s Cup for football and volleyball at Tunas Harapan Baru (THB) Field in Ranai on Monday afternoon (October 19).

The event was attended by several regional officials, including the Deputy Regent, the Regional Secretary, members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), heads of relevant regional government agencies, representatives of central government institutions, the Chair of the Natuna Regency Family Welfare Movement (PKK), the Chair of the Indonesian National Sports Committee (KONI), the organizing committee, and athlete representatives. Many spectators also gathered to watch the matches.

In her remarks, Cen Sui Lan highlighted how football and volleyball have become an integral part of community life. Beyond physical ability and technical skills, she said, both sports require teamwork, strategy, discipline, and a strong competitive spirit.

She hoped the tournament, held as part of the celebrations marking Natuna Regency’s 27th anniversary, would be more than just a competition. It should also serve as an opportunity to celebrate sporting achievements, strengthen relationships, foster a sense of brotherhood, and build a stronger spirit of togetherness among the community.

The Regent also expressed hope that the tournament would give athletes a platform to showcase their abilities while helping identify and develop promising sporting talent. These athletes, she noted, could one day go on to represent Natuna at higher-level competitions and bring recognition to the region.

Addressing all participants, Cen Sui Lan encouraged them to give their best and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship throughout the tournament. She reminded them to pursue victory with honor and accept defeat graciously.

She also called on the organizing committee, particularly the match referees, to carry out their duties professionally, make fair and impartial decisions, and uphold the highest standards of integrity.

Meanwhile, Head of the Natuna Youth and Sports Office Benny Suparta reported that the tournament would begin on October 19, 2026, following a schedule adjustment, and continue over the coming weeks.

The competition features three categories: football, with 32 clubs participating; men’s volleyball, with 17 clubs; and women’s volleyball, with 14 clubs. In total, 31 volleyball clubs are registered with the Natuna Regency Indonesian Volleyball Association (PBVSI).

Football matches will be held at Tunas Harapan Baru (THB) Field, while volleyball matches will take place at Pantai Piwang. (Pro_kopimnatuna/D)
