Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan, accompanied by the Head of the Regional Development Planning, Research and Innovation Agency (Bapperida) and the Head of the Natuna Health Office, led an online coordination meeting on Wednesday (August 5) to discuss joint efforts to prevent stunting and speed up the national Free Health Check (CKG) program.
The meeting was also attended online by heads of regional government agencies, sub-district heads, village and urban village heads, community health center (Puskesmas) heads and health workers, the heads of the Family Welfare Movement (TP PKK), Posyandu cadres, and family support teams from across Natuna.
In her remarks, Cen Sui Lan said that improving public health is an important foundation for building a more productive and prosperous community. The Natuna Regency Government therefore fully supports national priority programs, including stunting reduction and the Free Health Check program, as part of efforts to improve people’s quality of life from an early age.
Based on the 2024 Indonesian Nutrition Status Survey, the current stunting rate in Natuna stands at 18.50%. Cen Sui Lan emphasized that stunting is not only about children’s height, but can also affect their physical and cognitive development and productivity later in life.
She said stunting prevention needs to start early and involve many areas, including maternal nutrition, infant and child health, proper sanitation, access to clean water, family education, and healthy lifestyle practices.
As an archipelagic region with a wide geographical area, Natuna faces challenges in providing equal access to health services, especially for people living on the outer islands. However, Cen Sui Lan stressed that these challenges should not reduce the government’s efforts to provide quality health services to all communities.
She called on regional agencies, sub-district and village governments, health centers, hospitals, Posyandu cadres, family support teams, community organizations, and other stakeholders to strengthen coordination and cooperation. Each group has an important role in ensuring that people receive proper health services.
Through the coordination meeting, the Natuna Regency Government hopes to establish a shared understanding, clear responsibilities, and coordinated action to support the successful implementation of the stunting prevention program and the national Free Health Check program across Natuna.
