Natuna Regency marked Indonesia’s 81st Independence Day with a flag-raising ceremony at Piwang Beach Square on Monday morning, August 17. Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan led the ceremony as the inspector, with local government officials, members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), representatives of central government agencies, community organizations, teachers, students, traditional and religious leaders, and local residents in attendance.
The ceremony began with the arrival and preparation of the troops, followed by the report from the ceremony commander and preparations for the Proclamation of Independence. The atmosphere became more solemn during the moment of silence led by Cen Sui Lan, as participants paid tribute to the heroes who gave their lives to win and defend Indonesia’s independence.
The highlight of the ceremony was the raising of the Red and White flag by 33 members of the Natuna Paskibraka team. Asmiranda from SMA Negeri 2 Bunguran Timur served as the flag tray bearer, while Zahri Arnas from SMA Negeri 1 Pulau Seluan raised the flag. Diandra Steven Ladistro Napitupulu and Ahmad Zaki Natanegara, both from SMA Negeri 1 Bunguran Timur, served as the flag rope handlers.
The ceremony ran smoothly and brought together people from different parts of the community. Beyond the annual celebration, the 81st Independence Day served as a reminder of the importance of unity, national pride, and respect for the sacrifices of Indonesia’s heroes. The spirit of independence is expected to go beyond the ceremony, encouraging people in Natuna to work together, maintain unity, and contribute to the continued development of the regency and Indonesia as a whole.
