Natuna Regional Secretary Boy Wijanarko Varianto attended the Open House of Integrated People’s School 32 in Natuna Regency on Saturday morning (October 17). The event took place in the school’s hall at the Natuna Grand Mosque Complex in Ranai.
Also in attendance were several heads of relevant regional government agencies, subdistrict and village officials from across East Bunguran District, the Chair of the Natuna Regency Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI), community leaders, teachers, student mentors, dormitory supervisors, and students of the Integrated People’s School in Natuna.
In his remarks, Boy emphasized that education is one of the main foundations for developing excellent human resources. Every child, he said, deserves the opportunity to learn, express their creativity, and pursue their dreams while maintaining confidence in their own abilities.
He noted that every child has different strengths and potential. Some excel academically, while others show talent in the arts, sports, practical skills, or other fields. All these abilities deserve to be appreciated and nurtured through proper guidance and support.
Through the open house, Boy hoped visitors would have the opportunity to see firsthand the school’s learning environment, educational activities, and the creative work developed by students together with their teachers.
He also encouraged teachers and caregivers to continue providing an education that goes beyond academic knowledge, helping students build character, independence, practical skills, and self-confidence.
He stressed that cooperation between the school, parents, local government, and the wider community is essential to ensuring that the People’s School remains a safe, comfortable, and inclusive learning environment where every child can grow and develop to their full potential.
Boy also expressed his appreciation to the school for organizing the event, which provides an opportunity to introduce the school environment while showcasing the students’ creativity, potential, and abilities.
On the same occasion, Head of the Integrated People’s School in Natuna, Bumi Selan, explained that the school serves school-age children from the first and second socioeconomic deciles, representing underprivileged and extremely poor communities.
Bumi Selan added that the school offers a range of educational programs similar to those found in regular schools, along with various extracurricular activities, including sports and martial arts.
These extracurricular activities are designed to help students feel more comfortable living in the dormitories while also keeping them engaged in positive activities and reducing their involvement in potentially harmful behaviors during adolescence. (Pro_kopimnatuna/D)
