As part of the 11th Riau Islands Province Qur’an and Hadith Recitation Selection (STQH XI) 2025, a Welcoming Night (Malam Ta’aruf) was held at the Seri Beni Multipurpose Building, Dompak, on Friday (June 20).
The event was held alongside the Inauguration of the Riau Islands Province Board of the Qur’an Recitation Development Institute (LPTQ) for the 2025–2030 period. Attendees included the Vice Governor of Riau Islands Province, the former Governor for the 2016–2021 term, several members of the Provincial Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), regional leaders or their representatives, and delegations (kafilah) from various districts and cities across the province.
Governor Ansar Ahmad warmly welcomed all participating delegations and expressed his hope that the STQH would serve as a moment for building friendship (silaturrahmi), exchanging knowledge, and—most importantly—strengthening ukhuwah Islamiyah (Islamic brotherhood).
He further encouraged each delegation to showcase their best abilities in every competition branch, while emphasizing that the true goal is for the people of Riau Islands to instill Qur’anic values in daily life, bringing blessings from Allah SWT.
Speaking on the newly inaugurated LPTQ provincial board, Governor Ansar emphasized its role as a coordinating body for the district/city-level LPTQ boards. He called for strong coordination and continuous development to enhance Qur’an recitation programs throughout the region.
Governor Ansar also reminded the provincial LPTQ board to maintain unity in carrying out its duties and expressed hope that this year’s STQH would run smoothly and produce outstanding Qur’an reciters who could compete and succeed at the national level.
Meanwhile, Nyanyang Haris Pratamura, the newly appointed Chairperson of the Riau Islands LPTQ for 2025–2030, stated in his remarks that LPTQ carries a broad function—not only in administration, but also in handling complex technical aspects in the field.
Given these challenges, he stressed the importance of building solid coordination both within the provincial board and with district/city-level LPTQ bodies.
He also acknowledged that leadership transitions are common in every organization. However, what’s more important is evaluating past performance, identifying solutions, and formulating strategic policies to improve outcomes—especially in advancing Qur’anic recitation activities as a concrete contribution to the spread of Islamic values (syi’ar Islam) in the Riau Islands.
Nyanyang added that Riau Islands Province continues to accelerate development in several key sectors, including tourism, history, and culture. Events like STQH, he said, should serve to support the growth of these sectors—transforming them into religious tourism, and religiously rooted history and cultural attractions.
He concluded by noting that the advancement of information technology should be harnessed to implement policies and spread messages that instill Qur’anic values and strengthen ukhuwah Islamiyah within society.
