Regent of Natuna Reviews Self-Help Housing and Slum Area Relocation in Batu Kapal

Located at the site of a residential development project for the relocation of residents from slum areas in Puak, Ranai Urban Village, Bunguran Timur District, the Regent of Natuna, Cen Sui Lan, accompanied by the Regional Secretary H. Boy Wijanarko, as well as leaders and several officials from the Natuna District Office of Housing, Settlements, and Land Affairs (Perkim), conducted a site visit to review the progress of the housing complex construction on Tuesday afternoon (June 3).

The housing complex, designated for residents being relocated from slum areas, is funded by the 2025 Special Allocation Fund (DAK), with the construction carried out by the Community-Based Self-Help Group (KSM) Batu Kapal.

During the visit, Cen Sui Lan expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the Perkim Office and the active participation of the community through the self-help group involved in the construction. In the initial phase, the local government has allocated land for the construction of 57 housing units for residents affected by the relocation.

It is hoped that this development will benefit the community by providing more decent, healthy, and comfortable housing, especially for those previously living in the slum area of Batu Kapal, Ranai Urban Village, which is now being relocated to the Puak area.

Several key points were highlighted during the construction process. The Regent of Natuna emphasized the importance of maintaining building quality in accordance with planning standards, ensuring adequate road access, and providing proper drainage to prevent flooding in the area.

Regarding land ownership status, Cen Sui Lan stated that residents will be granted usage rights only (not full ownership). This measure is taken to prevent beneficiaries from selling the housing facilities provided in the future.
