The Indonesian Midwives Association (IBI) as a forum for communication and coordination of midwives, so far has a big role as an organisation that is expected to be able to support the improvement of health services.
Moreover, Indonesia is currently faced with national issues related to handling stunting, where midwives play an important role that can be done, both through educational programmes, as well as direct involvement to increase public awareness as a concrete step to prevent stunting.
The above was conveyed by the Vice Regent of Natuna, Rodhial Huda, when attending the peak of the 72nd IBI Anniversary commemoration held by the IBI Natuna Regency Branch, located at the Sri Serindit Multipurpose Building, Ranai, Sunday (23/07) morning.
Also present were the Regional Secretary of Natuna Regency, several OPD leaders, the Chairperson of the Natuna Regency PKK, women's organisations and all midwives in the working area of Natuna Regency.
Rodhial further added that considering the role of midwives is so strategic, especially in fostering, serving and educating maternal and child health, Rodhial hopes that IBI can build coordination and synergy in supporting stunting prevention efforts, through education on nutritional fulfilment during pregnancy and after pregnancy, breastfeeding priorities and developing proper parenting.
On the same occasion, the Chairperson of the Activity Organiser, Yusvita Apriyani, said that the purpose of this activity was intended to increase the capacity of midwives in strengthening the quality of MCH-KB and reproductive health.
In addition, it is also intended to increase the concern of IBI members to the community in maternal and child health services.
Yusvita also reported that until now there are 16 IBI twigs in Natuna Regency, with approximately 30 members spread in each village and sub-district and various other health service posts,
The commemoration of the IBI Anniversary this time was aligned with the implementation of the Second Rakercab of the IBI Natuna Regency Branch. (Prokopim / arf)
