The Vice Regent of Natuna, Rhodial Huda, opened the Literacy and Student Leadership in the Era of Merdeka Belajar 2023, held at SD 004 Sual Hall, Jl. Hr. Soebrantas, Ranai, Tuesday (25/07) morning.
Present at the event were the Head of the Education Office, Indra Joni, Indonesian Literacy School Manager Dompet Duafa and members, Principals and teacher representatives from elementary schools throughout East Bunguran.
In his remarks, Rhodial Huda conveyed that teachers should take this training seriously and seriously to gain additional knowledge that is expected to further enrich their treasures related to literacy and the concept of leadership in the current era of Merdeka Belajar.
According to Rodhial, efforts to fulfil facilities and infrastructure as well as supporting facilities for the world of education in Natuna Regency are quite adequate, but the existence of teachers and teaching staff both in quality and quantity must be continuously improved.
Teachers and teaching staff are deemed to need a process of developing insights and knowledge that are adjusted to the development and progress of the times.
Rodhial also added that the ability to become a teacher/teaching staff is not the level of education obtained, but the ability to adjust the material and read the conditions in educating children.
Meanwhile, of all school levels, teachers who teach in elementary schools carry the heaviest burden, because the basic knowledge given to children with zero knowledge, will greatly affect the intelligence of children at the advanced school level.
In addition, Rhodial said that during his leadership in the development of education, in addition to efforts to fulfil educational support facilities, the local government also focused on improving the quality of human resources which would become a legacy when he ended his term of office.
Some of the efforts that have been made are to build coordination to apply for scholarships to consortiums, ministries and higher education institutions, to be used as opportunities for the sons and daughters of the region for higher education.
Some higher education institutions that have agreed to provide scholarships include SKK Migas Kepri (8 students), Surabaya Shipbuilding Polytechnic (10 people), Pertamina University (8 people), PLN University (9 people), Marine and Fisheries Polytechnic of the Ministry of Fisheries (2 people), and Meteorological Academic (6 people).
In addition, the Natuna Regency Government has also established cooperation with the Ministry of Trade for scholarships (3 people), Polytechnic of Labour, Ministry of Trade, Polytechnic of Labour (3 people) and Telkom University (2 people).
This strategic step was taken by the local government with the intention and purpose of providing opportunities for regional children, especially from underprivileged and outstanding families, as a form of concern for parents and families who have lost hope of sending their children to college.
On the same occasion, the Head of the Natuna Regency Education Office, Indra Joni, explained that efforts to improve the quality of education must involve the concern of all elements, starting from parents, the community, educational institutions and various other organisational institutions, including this Dompet Duafa institution/program.
Meanwhile, teachers and teaching staff are the spearheads who are in direct contact as a medium for transferring information, knowledge and developing insights to the next generation of development.
Given the heavy moral burden and responsibility for human resource development, Indra hopes that all teachers and education personnel will continue to cultivate a mentality of sincerity in service, which will determine the fate of regional and national development in the future. (Pro_kopim/Endang)
