The Regent of Natuna Opens the Focus Group Discussion (FGD) for the Preparation of the Natuna Geopark Master Plan

Located in the second-floor meeting room, the Regent of Natuna, Wan Siswandi opened the Forum Group Discussion (FGD) for the Preparation of the Natuna Geopark Master Plan, on Tuesday (19/09) Morning.

Present at this event included representatives from the National Geopark Indonesia Committee (KNGI), Bapenas representatives, representatives of Bappeda Kepri, representatives of Dishub Kepri, Heads of OPDs of Natuna Regency and Sub-District Heads throughout Natuna Regency,

In his speech, Wan Siswandi expressed his gratitude to the Geopark Master Plan Compilation Team for carrying out activities in the Natuna Regency.

He hopes that the FGD can run smoothly and produce good output so that in the future it can have a positive impact on the development of the tourism sector, increasing the number of tourist visits to Natuna Regency.

Wan Siswandi acknowledged that regional sites that have begun to be packaged into tourist destinations and are scattered at several location points in the sub-district area, so far have not been managed properly, so this sector has not been able to have an influence on improving the community's economy.

According to him, to realize the Natuna Geopark is not an easy thing, it requires support from various parties, especially program intervention at the central level and Riau Islands Province. This is said considering that the regional capacity is very limited.

Finally, Wan Siswandi also advised that in realizing the Natuna Geopark, it must always prioritize sustainable aspects, so that it can encourage the creation of regional economic growth, community welfare, and natural and cultural sustainability.

The same thing was also conveyed by the Expert Council of the National Geopark Committee of Indonesia, Mega Fatimah Rosana, where to realize the Natuna Geopark, cooperation and input from various parties are needed.

Through this activity, she explained that KNGI together with Bapenas, the Riau Islands Provincial Government will provide assistance to prepare plans so that the programs to be determined can be more targeted in supporting the realization of regional welfare and progress. Pro-Kopim/Atra
