The Regent of Natuna, Wan Siswandi, opened the Raya Activity of SMA Negeri 1 Bunguran Timur, an activity centered on the high school sports field, inviting all high school levels throughout Bunguran Island in a sports competition to commemorate the 41st Anniversary of SMA Negeri 1 Bunguran Timur, Friday (06/10) morning.
Also present at this event were the Chairman of Commission I of the Natuna DPRD, the Head of the Kepri Provincial Education Office Branch in Natuna Regency, the Head of Bunguran Timur Sub-District, the Head of Batu Hitam Village, teachers, participants and students.
In his remarks, Wan Siswandi gave his appreciation for the implementation of this activity, as a forum for connecting relationships between schools, teachers, students, and alumni.
During the competition, Wan Siswandi hopes that it can run smoothly, and all match participants can continue to uphold sportsmanship in an effort to make achievements.
Mentioning the implementation of development in the field of education, Wan Siswandi acknowledged that the ability of the regional budget had decreased compared to previous years. However, the local government will continue to strive to maintain and improve the quality of education, and to create and prepare quality human resources to support future development.
One of the ways taken by the local government is to build coordination with the ministry and university institutions to get scholarships for local children who intend to continue their education to the university level.
The efforts made have paid off, where currently many Natuna children with a background of achievement and from underprivileged families, get the opportunity to study at universities that have collaborated with the local government.
There are several universities that are willing to provide scholarships for Natuna's children, as a result of local government coordination, including Surabaya Shipbuilding Engineering, Akamigas Cepu, Pertamina University, PLN University, and various other universities.
For your information, this year the Regional Government is still trying to expand cooperation with the same pattern, namely with the State Accounting College and the School of the Ministry of Transportation.
To the students who were present, Wan Siswandi advised them to continue to be enthusiastic in studying and equipping themselves, as well as focus on seizing the opportunities that exist, especially in the form of lecture scholarships that are opened specifically for Natuna's sons and daughters.
