The Regent of Natuna Assists The State Prosecution Service of Natuna in the Inauguration of the “Umah Demei” Restorative Justice in Tanjung Village

The Regent of Natuna, Wan Siswandi and the Head Attorney of Natuna District, Imam MS Sidabutar inaugurated "Umah Demei" Restorative Justice (RJ) in Tanjung Village, Friday morning (27/1/2023).

Several regional officials including the Chairperson of the Natuna Regency DPRD, Daeng Amhar, The Regional Secretary, Boy Wijanarko and a number of OPD Heads, such as the Head of PUPR Office, Agus Supardi, the Head of Perkim Department, Hendra Kusuma, the Head of Communication and Informatics Department, Bukhari, the Head of Youth and Sports Department, Suhardi attended the occasion.

The members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum, the Sub-District Heads of Northeast Bunguran, Heads of LAM and, as well as the local community leaders also presented.

Wan Siswandi in his speech, congratulated The State Prosecution Service of Natuna and thanked him for the assistance with this program, where it is very useful for addressing various legal issues in society.

Wan Siswandi hoped that in the future, various problems arise in the community at low levels of violations will be facilitated by "Umah Demei" RJ, so that its existence can truly provide great benefits, through the process of restorative justice as well as a media to increase legal awareness of the community.

Furthermore, Wan Siswandi also hoped that the village heads will be able to consolidate in order to obtain information that will help them carry out their duties, so that excellent development and service can be carried out as mutually expected.

Imam MS Sidabutar state the same matter, explaining that the implementation of prosecutor's responsibilities is very closely related to actualize the restorative justice (a peace process outside the trial), but this process can only be carried out for both parties who intend to find a peaceful solution, both for the perpetrators of law violations and the victim.

However, there are several things to consider in the implementation of restorative justice, such as the fact that this process does not apply to a recedivis (former convict) who has been sentenced for more than 4 years.
