Riau Islands Province is the 32nd province, established under Law No. 25 of 2002, which was enacted on 24 September 2002.
The motto, "Berpancang Amanah, Bersauh Marwah", symbolises the spirit and determination of the people of Riau Islands Province as a cultural entity that also complements social identity in the Republic of Indonesia.
In achieving its noble ideals of an advanced, prosperous, and cultured society, Riau Islands Province has administratively run the wheels of government since 01 July 2004 which includes two cities and five regencies (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City which is also the provincial capital, Bintan Regency, Karimun, Lingga, Natuna, and Anambas Islands.
The above was conveyed by the Governor of the Riau Islands through his written speech delivered by the Vice Regent of Natuna, Rodhial Huda, who acted as the Inspector of Ceremony at the 21st Anniversary of the Riau Islands Province in 2023, held at the Natuna Regency Regent's Office, Ranai, Sunday (24/09) morning.
In addition, in his speech, it was also conveyed that the 21st Anniversary of the Riau Islands Province, as a culmination point of a historic part in the existence of this beloved region, by adhering to the cultural heritage of Gurindam 12 as teaching values in everyday life, society, nation, and state.
It was also reminded that currently Riau Islands is still faced with global challenges that have an impact on the region, both related to the economy, the threat of inflation instability, poverty, unemployment, education, health, food and energy crises.
Through these challenges, it is a necessity for all elements of development to unite to maximize achievements on various fronts, so as to be able to bring the State of Segantang Lada to become the northern gate of Indonesia.
To that end, the Governor expressed his deepest appreciation to all parties who contributed to the achievement of sustainable development in the motherland of Malay, including in enlivening the entire series of Riau Islands provincial anniversaries.
Representatives of Forkompimda members, leaders of Regional Apparatus Organisations, community leaders, youth leaders, and interfaith leaders attended the ceremony.
