The General Administration Assistant of the Natuna Regency Regional Secretariat Participated in A Virtual Meeting on The Merit System Application within The Government of Riau Islands.

The General Administration Assistant of the Natuna Regency Regional Secretariat participated in a virtual meeting on the merit system application to encourage and motivate the Regional Government to implement a better merit system. The meeting was held in the video conference room of the Natuna Regent's office, on Monday morning (2/6).

Also present accompanying the General Administration Assistant of the Natuna Regency Regional Secretariat in this online hearing were the Head of the Natuna Regency Personnel and Human Resources Development Agency, representatives of the Organization Section of the Natuna Regency Regional Secretariat. This online hearing was also attended by representatives of the State Civil Apparatus Commission as presenters and all representatives of Regional Governments in the Riau Islands as participants.

In this hearing, it was briefly explained about the merit system which is one of the systems in human resource management based on qualifications, competencies and performance that is applied fairly and fairly without discrimination.

The implementation of the merit system in the Indonesian bureaucracy aims to produce ASNs who have integrity, nationalism, professionalism, global insight, IT & foreign languages, hospitality, networking, and entrepreneurship so that they can place them in government bureaucratic positions according to their competence, provide fair and appropriate compensation, develop ASN's abilities through guidance and training and protect ASN's career from politicization and policies that are contrary to the principles of merit.

These objectives must of course go through aspects of the merit system itself, including needs planning, procurement, career development, promotion and transfer, performance management, payroll rewards and discipline, protection and services, and information systems,

By implementing the merit system, it is expected to have an impact on increasing the government effectiveness index, preventing KKN practices in managing ASN, increasing the bureaucratic reform index so as to provide career certainty for the ASN itself. (Pro_kopim/Atra)
