Review and Distribution of Subsidized Fertilizer for Fiscal Year 2025: Natuna Regional Secretary Hopes to Boost Agricultural Productivity

Attended by several heads of relevant Regional Government Organizations (OPDs), community leaders, and representatives of farmer groups, on Tuesday morning (April 22), the Regional Secretary of Natuna Regency, Boy Wijanarko Varianto, conducted an inspection and symbolically distributed subsidized fertilizer at the Fertilizer Warehouse of the Department of Agriculture and Food Security in Batu Hitam Subdistrict.

While handing over the subsidized fertilizer to five farmer group representatives, Boy explained that the visit aimed to ensure the immediate and well-targeted distribution of the assistance.

He also expressed hope that this government intervention would help increase farmers’ harvest success rate to meet local market demand and community food needs.

Boy emphasized that the agricultural sector remains one of the government’s main priorities. This is in line with the national effort to strengthen food security, which must begin by supporting various food production sectors—particularly by promoting a more productive agricultural system.

He further explained that going forward, the Ministry of Agriculture will support this goal through the establishment of the Koperasi Merah Putih (Red and White Cooperative), one of whose roles is to assist the farming process with professional support, from planting to marketing.

On the same occasion, the Head of the Food Security and Agriculture Office of Natuna Regency, Wan Syazali, reported that the subsidized fertilizer assistance—sourced from the Riau Islands Provincial Budget (APBD)—totaled 189.3 tons.

Wan Syazali stated that the market price of the fertilizer is Rp 19,000 per unit, but through the subsidy, it is reduced to Rp 2,300. The majority of this subsidized fertilizer will be distributed to farmer groups in Bunguran Batubi District, which has the largest number of farmers in Natuna. (Pro_kopim/D)
