Located in Bunguran Batubi District, Regional Secretary of Natuna, Boy Wijanarko Varianto, accompanied Governor of Riau Islands, Ansar Ahmad, in the first rice planting event in Natuna Regency on Wednesday afternoon (12/02).
In his speech, Governor Ansar Ahmad stated that this initiative is a follow-up to the cooperation between the Riau Islands Provincial Government, the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), the Riau Islands Police (Polda Kepri), and Military Resort Command 033 Wira Pratama (Korem 033 WP).
Ansar explained that this collaboration reflects the synergy between the provincial government and Forkopimda in ensuring equitable national food security across all regencies and cities in the Riau Islands Province.
He also confirmed that the rice seeds, which were distributed to farmer groups in 2024 as part of central government aid, are of high quality and suitable for consumption to support nutritional needs.
Additionally, Ansar emphasized the role of local governments in overseeing and guiding farmers in utilizing state-budgeted (APBN) assistance effectively. This measure aligns with the national food security program, which is a downstream initiative under the direction of President Prabowo.
On the same occasion, Boy Wijanarko highlighted that Natuna Regency currently has 15 hectares of rice fields spread across five districts, namely: Bunguran Batubi, Bunguran Tengah, Bunguran Timur, Bunguran Selatan, Serasan Timur
These fields produce an estimated annual rice yield of approximately 230 tons.
The symbolic first rice planting was carried out by the Governor of Riau Islands, accompanied by the Regional Secretary of Natuna and Forkopimda members, on a 5.5-hectare plot.
The event was attended by several key officials, including: Head of the Riau Islands Department of Agriculture, Food Security, and Horticulture (KP2HK), Head of the Riau Islands Public Works Department, Deputy Chairperson of the Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), Kasiter 033/WP, Chairperson of BWSS IV, Forkopimda and Heads of Regional Government Agencies (OPD) in Natuna Regency, Leaders of vertical agencies, including the Head of Bulog Natuna and the Head of BPS Natuna.
