Regent of Natuna Welcomes Strategic Collaboration with Danguspurla Koarmada I to Advance Maritime Development

Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan received a courtesy visit from the Commander of the Maritime Security Task Force (Danguspurla) of Fleet Command I (Koarmada I), First Admiral TNI Nurlan, M.Si (Han), CHRMP, on Monday morning (August 4) at her office in Ranai.

The meeting served as a pivotal moment in strengthening synergy between the Natuna Regency Government and the Indonesian Navy’s Koarmada I, particularly in maritime security, maritime development, and the defense of Indonesia’s outermost borders.

In her remarks, Regent Cen Sui Lan emphasized the vital role of military units such as the Indonesian Navy in supporting the stability and development of maritime border regions. Given Natuna’s strategic geopolitical position, collaboration with the Navy is considered essential.

She further stated that the strategic partnership between the local government and the Navy is crucial for addressing major challenges faced by Natuna—as the outermost frontier of the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia (NKRI)—especially in terms of maritime security, infrastructure development, and improving the welfare of coastal communities.

Meanwhile, First Admiral TNI Nurlan underscored that his visit reflects Koarmada I’s commitment to enhancing cross-sector coordination and cooperation with regional governments to safeguard maritime sovereignty and safety in border areas.

He explained that the Navy’s responsibilities extend beyond defense and security, and include supporting local governments in various strategic sectors. Given Natuna’s vital position, this collaboration will help create integrated and effective development strategies.

The discussion also covered the potential for joint initiatives between the Navy and the Natuna Regency Government, such as maritime patrol programs, educational outreach for fishing communities, border defense reinforcement, and support for the marine and fisheries economy.

Both parties agreed to maintain ongoing communication and establish regular meetings as part of a long-term collaboration agenda aimed at creating a secure, resilient, and maritime-advanced Natuna amid increasing global and regional challenges. (Prokopim/Patli)
