Opening of the Affordable Ramadan Market 1446 Hijri, Deputy Regent of Natuna: Buy According to Your Needs, This Program Is Intended for Underprivileged Communities

One of the efforts to maintain food price stability, especially during Ramadan and ahead of Eid al-Fitr, when demand for food supplies is high, is ensuring that these essential goods remain available in the market.

In addition, the local government, through several Regional Apparatus Organizations (OPD), collaborates in organizing the Affordable Ramadan Market program, which provides staple foods at affordable prices. This initiative aims to allow the public to shop without being affected by potential price surges in the market.

This was conveyed by the Deputy Regent of Natuna, Jarmin, in his speech at the opening of the Affordable Ramadan Market 1446 Hijri, held at Pantai Piwang, Ranai, Bunguran Timur District, on Sunday afternoon (March 16).

The staple food items available for sale include rice, cooking oil, sugar, flour, eggs, fresh fish, and vegetables. Additionally, the same location features vendor stalls allocated for small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to sell snacks and iftar (takjil) meals.

The event, organized by the Department of Food Security and Agriculture of Natuna Regency in collaboration with several other OPDs, was attended by regional officials, including the Chairman of the Natuna Regency DPRD, members of the Regional Leadership Communication Forum (Forkopimda), several OPD leaders, sub-district heads, village chiefs from Bunguran Timur, and local community leaders.

In his speech, Jarmin emphasized that the subsidized staple food prices aim to ease the financial burden on the community, ensuring that goods are sold at lower prices than in the general market.

He further expressed hope that the affordable market program would run smoothly and, most importantly, serve its primary purpose—allowing underprivileged families to purchase essential goods according to their needs. He also urged those who are financially capable not to buy excessively so that everyone could benefit from the program.

Additionally, Jarmin stated that he has coordinated with several relevant agencies, and if the regional budget allows, this initiative will be held again before Eid al-Fitr to help meet food needs while also curbing potential price hikes. (Pro_kopim/Patli)
