Based on cases of violence against women and children, be it physical, psychological and sexual, which are submitted to the Regional Technical Implementation Unit for the Protection of Women and Children (UPTD PPPA) of Natuna Regency from year to year, there has been a significant increase.
As for steps to prevent the above from increasing, an appeal to all parties, both for parents, the community, educational institutions must take care to respond to all events that make children and women in a discriminated condition.
This was conveyed by the Regent of Natuna, represented by the Assistant for Governance, Natuna Regency Regional Secretariat, Khaidir, when opening the Case Management and Handling Training activities, located in the Gajah Mina Jelita Sejuba Ballroom, Sepempang Village, Bunguran Timur District, Thursday (27/07) morning.
Khaidir explained that the above conditions are one of the affairs and concerns of the local government, with the establishment of UPTD PPPA which provides services to victims of women and children who experience violence and other discrimination, by providing professionals such as Clinical Psychologists, Mediators, Legal Counselors and Social Workers, so that the rights of victims can be guaranteed and fulfilled.
Furthermore, the Head of the Natuna Regency Women's Empowerment, Child Protection, Population Control and Family Planning Office, Sri Riawati in her report said that the UPTD PPPA organises the functions of community procurement services, victim outreach, temporary shelter case management, mediation and victim assistance.
The aim is for participants who take part in this training to be able to apply knowledge, values and skills in conducting case management, so that they can provide services to victims of women and children due to violence and discrimination in a comprehensive manner.
This activity will be held for two days (from 27 to 28 July 2023), with a total of 50 participants consisting of representatives of violence-free communities.
Attending the event were resource persons from the Ministry of PPA (Maristya Lira Shabrina), consultant from Yayasan Ruang Damini (Intan Slipia), FKPD, OPD, medical team from RSUD and Puskesmas Ranai, and participants. (Pro_kopim/D)
