Jakarta, September 9, 2025 — Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan met with Indonesia’s Director General of Sea Transportation, Muhammad Marsyhud, in Jakarta to push for the acceleration of the revitalization of Selat Lampa International Port, positioning it as a future trade hub and export-import gateway in the border region.
Cen stressed that revitalizing Selat Lampa is not only a regional priority but also a strategic step to strengthen Natuna’s local economy and global connectivity. Beyond infrastructure, she emphasized the need to develop supporting ecosystems including logistics management, trade regulations, and skilled human resources.
Located along key international shipping routes, Selat Lampa is expected to play a central role in advancing Indonesia’s vision as a global maritime axis, while also contributing to national economic resilience and expanding Indonesia’s global trade network.
“Upgrading Selat Lampa will accelerate Natuna’s economic growth and open wider opportunities for local communities while reinforcing Indonesia’s maritime sovereignty,” Cen said.
Echoing this, Dirjen Sea Transportation Marsyhud praised Natuna’s proactive initiative, pledging technical assistance, cross-ministerial program alignment, and partnerships with local government and private sector players to realize Selat Lampa as a modern international-standard port.
The discussion also highlighted the need for supporting infrastructure such as road access, integrated logistics facilities, and maritime industrial zones—developments expected to attract new investment and create jobs for the Natuna community. (Prokopim/Patli)
