Natuna Regent Opens MPLS, 100 Students Begin Studies at SRKN for the 2025–2026 Academic Year

The establishment of the Natuna People’s School (SRKN) represents a concrete effort by the regional government to reduce dropout rates by providing free, quality, and equitable education, particularly for children from underprivileged families.

This program is considered one of the most strategic forms of social intervention, as it enables underprivileged communities—previously hindered by school fees—to now gain direct access to free and quality education.

This was conveyed by the Regent of Natuna, Cen Sui Lan, in her remarks during the Inauguration and Opening of the School Orientation Period (Masa Pengenalan Lingkungan Sekolah / MPLS) of SRKN for the 2025–2026 academic year, held at the Hajj Dormitory of the Natuna Grand Mosque Complex on Monday morning (September 22).

Cen Sui Lan further explained that next year, both the central and regional governments will construct a permanent SRKN building equipped with more complete and adequate educational facilities.

She also reminded the audience that the effort to nurture a generation that will shape the nation’s future is a shared responsibility, not only of the government but also of the entire community.

For this reason, Cen Sui Lan called on all stakeholders to continue supporting the sustainability and progress of SRKN, making it a model social-based educational institution that produces an excellent and competitive generation.

In addition to officially opening MPLS, Cen Sui Lan, accompanied by the attending guests, inspected the temporary facilities that will be used by 100 students throughout their studies at SRKN.

Also present at the event were the Chair and several members of the Natuna Regional House of Representatives (DPRD), members of Forkopimda, the Head of the Pangudi Luhur Integrated Center (STPL) of the Ministry of Social Affairs, the Regional Secretary, assistants and heads of related Regional Apparatus Organizations, leaders of vertical agencies, subdistrict heads, school principals, members of Rofum Anak Natuna, and the parents/guardians of students.
