Natuna Regent Expresses Condolences Over Sedanau Fire, Prioritizes Emergency Response and Disaster Preparedness

Natuna, September 12, 2025 — Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan conveyed deep condolences to residents of Sedanau Village, following a devastating fire on Friday night, and immediately mobilized a coordinated government response to assist victims and strengthen future disaster preparedness.

Cen instructed the Regional Secretary, Fire Department, Disaster Management Agency (BPBD), and Social Affairs Office to deploy swiftly to the site, ensuring victims received urgent support including emergency logistics, temporary shelter, and psychosocial assistance.

“The local government is committed to moving quickly and doing everything possible to support the victims,” Cen emphasized, underscoring that all rights of the affected families must be fulfilled without delay.

Beyond immediate response, the Regent highlighted the importance of strengthening fire prevention and disaster mitigation systems. This includes improving hydrant functionality, establishing additional fire posts, enhancing community disaster education, and expanding early warning systems to ensure better readiness in the future.

Cen also urged collective awareness and participation from the community in disaster preparedness efforts. “Collaboration between government and society is vital. Together, we can minimize the impact of future fires and safeguard the wellbeing of Natuna’s people,” she said. (Prokopim)
