Natuna Regent, Bank Indonesia Discuss Inflation Control and SME Empowerment

Batam, September 15, 2025 — Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan held an official audience with Rony Widijarto Purubaskoro, Head of Bank Indonesia’s Riau Islands Representative Office, to address inflation control and the empowerment of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) as key drivers of the regional economy.

Cen emphasized that price stability is essential to maintaining public purchasing power and ensuring sustainable economic growth. She underlined the strategic role of SMEs as the backbone of Natuna’s economy, calling for enhanced capacity-building, inclusive access to finance, and broader market opportunities to strengthen community-based economic resilience.

Bank Indonesia’s Rony Purubaskoro welcomed the initiative and reaffirmed BI’s commitment to supporting Natuna through inflation control programs, financial literacy initiatives, and strengthening SME ecosystems to withstand global challenges.

The audience also reinforced institutional cooperation between BI and the Natuna Regency Government. In closing, Cen announced that the Head of BI Kepri is scheduled to visit Natuna on October 12, 2025, coinciding with the Regency’s Anniversary celebrations, to deepen collaboration and deliver tangible programs for local economic empowerment.
