Natuna Regency Government Holds 24th Anniversary Commemoration Ceremony in 2023

Located at Piwang Beach, the Regent of Natuna, Wan Siswandi attended and acted as the Inspector of the Ceremony Commemorating the 24th Anniversary of Natuna Regency, 2023, Thursday (12/10/2024) morning.

Attending the event were the Vice Regent of Natuna, Chairman of the Natuna DPRD and members, members of the Forkopimda, Regional Secretary, echelon II officials and ASN within the Natuna Regency Government, other invited guests, and ceremony participants.

In the synopsis of the History of Natuna Regency, it was explained that this area cannot be separated from the history of the Riau Islands Regency, because before it was independent as an autonomous region, Natuna was part of the Riau Islands Regency.

Natuna Regency was formed based on Law No. 53/1999 which was passed on 12 October 1999, with the inauguration of the Natuna Regent, Drs. H. Andi Rivai Siregar by the Minister of Home Affairs ad interim General TNI (Ret.) Feisal Tanjung in Jakarta.

Based on the Decree of the Delegation of the Republic of Indonesia, the Province of Central Sumatra, on 18 May 1956, incorporated itself into the Territory of the Republic of Indonesia.

Furthermore, the Riau Islands were given the status of Level II Autonomous Region headed by the Regent the head of the region which oversees 4 districts including the Kewedanaan Pulau Tujuh, covering the districts of Jemaja, Siantan, Midai, Serasan, Tembelan, West Bunguran and East Bunguran.

Based on the Decree of the Governor of Riau Level I dated 9 August 1964 No. UP/247/5/1965, the regional administration was abolished.

Natuna Regency was formed based on Law No. 53 of 1999 from the expansion of Riau Islands Regency which consists of 6 sub-districts, namely East Bunguran, West Bunguran, Jemaja, Siantan, Midai, and Serasan sub-districts and Tebang Ladan sub-district.

The Regent of Natuna, Wan Siswandi in his speech said that as part of a nation that still respects and does not forget history, the process of government administrators in development continues to foster the community in this area with the spirit of struggle, which was initiated by the fighters for the formation of Natuna Regency.

Through this opportunity, Wan Siswandi expressed his respect and gratitude to the warrior figures, former government leaders, and the people of Natuna who have contributed through thoughts and real work in developing Natuna.

Furthermore, Wan Siswandi emphasized that the Government is reviving economic conditions that are still felt hard, where the government's financial capacity is strongly influenced by the instrument of transfer to the regions from the APBN.

It was also explained that APBD revenue comes from Revenue Sharing Funds (DBH) which are currently around 1.65 billion, coupled with other Regional Original Revenues and special Allocation Funds making the actual amount 880 billion.

In addition, in 2023 Natuna experienced a landslide disaster which also claimed lives in the Serasan District area, this certainly left deep sorrow. However, he invited the Serasan community and the Natuna community in general to continue to rise to carry out recovery and improvement.

Regarding the natural disaster, Wan Siswandi also expressed his gratitude to the Central Government and members of the Forkopimda who have helped together in evacuation efforts and the recovery of community conditions after the landslide.

In addition, in the development of the education sector, the Regional Government continues to coordinate with the Central Government, through ministries and higher education institutions under ministerial and non-ministerial institutions, to obtain scholarship opportunities for Natuna's sons and daughters to pursue higher education.

In addition, all areas of development also strive to run stimulantly, both revamping basic infrastructure, health services, and social security.

At the end of his speech, Wan Siswandi congratulated the 24th Anniversary of Natuna Regency, in 2023. Hopefully, Natuna will be even better in the future.

Furthermore, the Regent and Deputy Regent of Natuna and Forkopimda handed over competition prizes, among others: Prizes for the 2023 Regional Innovation competition, Awards to the best taxpayers, winners of the village and sub-district development evaluation competition, and the submission of the anthology book "Pelangi di Natuna" from the National Library Literacy Incubator activities in the Natuna region.
