Stunting is a growth and development disorder due to chronic malnutrition and recurrent infections characterised by below-standard length or height.
The condition of children's growth as above, is concerned that it will decrease the productivity and the quality of health in time. It is supposed to be the concern of all parties, both within the family, the environment, the health service apparatus and all stakeholders.
As one of the parties that is responsible for overcome stunting in the Region, the Regional Government through various related agencies and stakeholders must take care and continue to strive to actualise a more superior, productive and quality next generation.
Boy Wijanarko Varianto, the Regional Secretary of Natuna Regency, expressed this when he led the Natuna Regency Stunting Meeting 2023 which was held virtually, from the Meeting Room of the Natuna Regency BP3D building, Jalan Batu Sisir, Bukit Arai, Ranai, Natuna, Wednesday (15/03).
Present virtually in the activity included the Chairman of the Natuna Regency DPRD, represented by the Chairman of Commission I, Wan Arismunandar, leaders of related OPDs, sub-district heads, village heads and village heads, heads of MUI, heads of PKK in the Regency and kecamata and villages, banking leaders and community organisations.
In his opening speech, Boy explained that from 2017 to 2022, the stunting rate in Natuna ranged from 37% to 18%. This percentage illustrates that the joint efforts that have been made have produced significant results, especially in reducing the stunting rate.
Boy hopes that cohesiveness in these efforts can continue to be improved, focus and strategy must really be able to have an impact. With joint cooperation and focus, Boy believes that in the next few years he will be able to realise 0 per cent stunting in Natuna Regency. (Pro_kopim/irles)
