Governor of Riau Islands Province, Ansar Ahmad, officially inaugurated the 24-hour electricity service for Pulau Panjang District, Natuna Regency, in a virtual ceremony held from the Sri Serindit Building, Ranai, on Sunday (10/08). The event was attended by Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan and representatives from PT PLN (Persero).
Previously, the people of Pulau Panjang District — a newly formed district following the division of Subi District — only received electricity service for 14 hours per day. With the launch of this full-day electricity service, all district capitals across Riau Islands Province are now covered by 24-hour PLN power supply.
In his remarks, Governor Ansar emphasized that the improvement of electricity services in Pulau Panjang is a tangible commitment of the government to ensure equitable access to energy, particularly in frontier, outermost, and underdeveloped regions of the province.
“Electricity is a key driver of regional progress. By extending 24-hour power services, we aim to boost economic productivity, support education, and enhance the overall quality of life for residents,” said Governor Ansar.
On the same occasion, Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan expressed her appreciation to the Riau Islands Provincial Government and PT PLN (Persero) for realizing this long-awaited infrastructure. She encouraged the local community to utilize the facility optimally for development and welfare improvement.
Also present during the ceremony were members of the Natuna Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), PLN representatives, and community leaders. (Pro_kopim/Patli)
