Governor of Riau Islands Province Hands Over BPJS Ketenagakerjaan Death Benefits to Beneficiaries in Natuna

As part of the official visit of the Riau Islands Provincial Government to Natuna Regency, Governor Ansar Ahmad attended a ceremony at the Sri Serindit Building in Ranai on Sunday afternoon (August 10) to present death benefit compensation from the Social Security Agency for Employment (BPJS Ketenagakerjaan) to five beneficiaries, all of whom were farmers enrolled in the program.

Accompanied by Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan and other regional government officials, Governor Ansar Ahmad handed over a total of IDR 210 million in benefits—equivalent to IDR 42 million per recipient. The compensation is part of the social protection scheme provided by BPJS Ketenagakerjaan for farmers registered under the program.

In his remarks, Governor Ansar highlighted that the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan program for farmers across the Riau Islands Province officially commenced disbursement this year, with a total of 9,200 beneficiaries. Specifically in Natuna Regency, 1,799 farmers have been registered as participants.

He further emphasized the importance of this protection, noting that it ensures the families of deceased farmers maintain economic security. Both the provincial and regency governments are committed to expanding BPJS Ketenagakerjaan coverage to include more participants in the future.

Also speaking at the event, Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan expressed her appreciation for the program, recognizing it as a concrete step toward protecting the welfare of local farmers. She expressed hope that all farmers in Natuna would eventually be registered under the BPJS Ketenagakerjaan program to receive essential social security coverage.

The event was attended by members of the Natuna Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (Forkopimda), representatives from BPJS Ketenagakerjaan, and local community leaders (Pro_kopim/Patli)
