Held in Payak Village, East Serasan District, Natuna Regent Cen Sui Lan, together with the Deputy I of Indonesia’s National Border Management Agency (BNPP) for State Border Management, attended the grand rice harvest on Monday morning (June 16).

The harvest, conducted on 16 hectares of land, was the result of community and farmer group efforts in East Serasan District. The rice yield will be sold to the local community for consumption.

Cen Sui Lan expressed her appreciation and pride in the East Serasan farmer groups. She stated that this successful harvest marks an important first step toward achieving food self-sufficiency, particularly in rice, which is the staple food of the local population.

She also explained that the regional government has coordinated with the National Logistics Agency (Bulog) in Natuna, which has agreed to purchase rice from the farmer groups at the local market price. This initiative is expected to enhance the economic value for farmers by providing a guaranteed market for their crops.

In addition, Cen Sui Lan announced that 5 tons of fertilizer will soon be distributed to rice farmer groups in several areas. She hopes that the fertilizer aid will be used effectively to boost agricultural productivity.

She also extended her gratitude to the National Border Management Agency (BNPP RI) for their presence and continuous support through various strategic programs aimed at accelerating development in border areas, particularly on Serasan Island. (Pro_kopim/Patli)
