Attending the Dendang Piwang Cultural Performance, The Regent of Natuna Hopes that it will become a Moment of Silaturrahmi and Preservation of Local Culture

The Regent of Natuna, Wan Siswandi, accompanied by his wife, the Vice Regent of Natuna, the Regional Secretary and several leaders of Regional Apparatus Organizations had the opportunity to attend the Dendang Piwang Cultural Performance held at the Sebuton Community Multipurpose Building, Mekar Jaya Village, Bunguran Barat District, Saturday (12/08) night.

The arrival of the Natuna Regency Government group was welcomed by the Village Head and all levels of the Mekar Jaya and Pian Tengah Village Governments and elements of the Community, by performing the art of gendang silat.

On this occasion, the Natuna Regent and all invited guests were presented with various forms of art performed by local school students, in the form of chanting Gurindam 12, folk games, local community history drama performances, zapin, and several other art performances.

In his speech, Wan Siswandi expressed his happiness for getting the opportunity to visit and stay in touch with the Mekar Jaya Village Community in particular, considering that because of his busy schedule and responsibilities as regional head, causing opportunities like this are very difficult to get.

In addition, Wan Siswandi acknowledged that there are several regional problem issues currently being faced, one of which is the uncertainty and decrease in the value of the APBD which has an impact on the decline in the number of physical and non-physical developments.

However, he admitted that he would maintain several activities which were basic needs so that the community felt progress and convenience, including the through access road, from Mekar Jaya village to the axis road, to facilitate the economic activities of the community.

In addition, activities that will be maintained are various work programs that directly touch and provide the benefits of connecting friendship between the community and local government elements, such as this activity.

Through this Dendang Piwang Cultural Performance, Wan Siswandi hopes that the relationship with the community will remain connected, establish solidarity, and make it a forum for art activists to continue working to preserve regional cultural treasures.

Furthermore, the Head of Education of Natuna Regency, Indra Joni, in his report also said that this activity was a form of concern for the local government as well as in accordance with the vision and mission of regional development, namely the resilience of cultural arts.

In the future, this activity is planned to be held in Limau Manis Village (Bunguran Timur Laut District) and in Pulau Tiga District and several other villages.

Through this activity, Indra Joni hopes that art activists can continue to innovate to introduce regional culture as a form of concern for preserving local cultural treasures.

On the same occasion, the Head of Mekar Jaya Village, Eko Srimulyanto also expressed his gratitude to the Regional Government for assigning the village he leads to be one of the hosts of this activity.

He also hopes that this activity will become a momentum to motivate the community to support the preservation of local culture, to introduce and to involve the younger generation to generate a sense of love for their own culture.

The Natuna Regent on this occasion also handed over one set of Zapin art tools which will later be managed by the Mekar Jaya Village studio / Community to continue to develop Zapin culture which is one of the local cultures that must be preserved. (Pro_kopim/Axy)
