How the start of the calculation of the Hijri year marked by the hijrah of Muslims from Mecca to Medina with all its backgrounds has the meaning of hijrah which must also be marked by changes towards the good of individual Muslims, to get closer to the creator, by relying on the way of life and life goals solely on Allah the creator.
Therefore, the commemoration of the Islamic New Year 1445 Hijriyah should also be a new gate for improving faith, a momentum for self-reflection on how far we have gone to improve our faith in order to prepare for an eternal journey to the hereafter.
This was conveyed by the Regional Secretary of Natuna Regency, Boy Wijanarko Varianto in his speech at the commemoration of the Islamic New Year (1 Muharram) 1445 Hijriyah, which was held at the Natuna Grand Mosque, Ranai, on Tuesday (18/07) night.
Attending the event were most members of the Natuna Regency DPRD, members of Forkompimda, leaders of Regional Apparatus Organisations, as well as the community, representatives of schools and mosque/mushola administrators.
Furthermore, Boy explained that to invite blessings and safety, efforts to improve themselves and faith must continue to be pursued. For this reason, through this momentum, he invited them to make it a self-reflection to continue to strive to become a better person, a more surrendered people.
Boy also explained that the local government has designated the Great Mosque as an Islamic Centre. Therefore, he appealed to the community to be able to support this, through the organisation of religious activities as a form of joint efforts to prosper the mosque.
On the same occasion, Assistant I Setda Natuna Regency as well as Chairman of the Natuna Regency Islamic Holidays Committee (PHBI), Khaidir in his report expressed his gratitude to all parties for the support given, so that this activity could be held as expected.
According to Khaidir, various religious activities, especially the commemoration of the Islamic New Year, should be used as a momentum to increase ukhuwah Islamiyah, unification and efforts to increase silaturrahmi and concern for the people.
