Located at the Sri Srindit Natuna Building, Jl. Yos Sudarso Batu Hitam Ranai, Friday, (6/10) morning, the Regent of Natuna, Wan Siswandi attended the Discussion on Strengthening the Role of Religious People in Creating Peaceful and Civilised Elections,
Also present at the event were members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (FKPD), Regional Apparatus Organisations (OPD) Natuna Regency Religious Leaders, Sub-District Heads, Village Heads, and Village Heads, Chairmen of the Natuna Regency Religious Harmony Forum administrators.
In his speech, Wan Siswandi said that FKUB is expected to work in the context of welcoming the 2024 elections, especially in preventing friction ridden by political interests.
This is said considering that in every election, religious issues are one of the sensitive issues that are likely to cause chaos and division in the community.
The condition of tolerance between religious communities that has been realized in the community of Natuna Regency must be maintained, including by maintaining and respecting the freedom of each religious community in carrying out worship and commemorating their holidays.
This harmony must also continue to be nurtured and improved, especially since this country will welcome the implementation of elections, both in the presidential and vice presidential elections, regional elections, and elections for legislative candidates in 2024.
The same thing was also conveyed by the Regional Secretary, Boy Wijanarko Varianto, where the concern of the provocation agenda related to religious issues is so high. However, he is also grateful that religious harmony in Natuna is still relatively high.
The condition of tolerance and harmony in the community is inseparable from the role of religious leaders who continuously call for peace, and tolerance and focus on the realisation of harmony as the main capital for the implementation of regional development.
On the same occasion, FKUB Chairman Umar Natuna also added that the discussion of Religious People in the context of the elections held was part of FKUB's efforts to participate in the success of the upcoming 2024 elections.
