The Vice Regent of Natuna, Rodhial Huda attended the Natuna Geopark Goes To School event, held in the Laboratory room, SMA 2 Ranai, Pattimura St, Pering, Bandarsyah Village, Bunguran Timur District, Monday (2/10) morning.
The event was attended by the management of the Natuna Geopark National Management Board, the principal, teachers, and all students of SMA Negeri 2 Ranai.
In his speech, Rhodial said that Natuna has many natural resources that should be managed wisely for the welfare of the community. However, it is still constrained by human resources who have the ability to manage the potential into economic value.
Considering the importance of this, he acknowledged that in his tenure with Wan Siswandi, he must be able to leave a working legacy, in the form of the availability of human resources capable of supporting future development programmes.
This is especially important considering that Natuna has also become the focus of the accelerated development program launched by the Central Government, through the acceleration of five pillars of development, namely the pillars of oil and gas, marine and fisheries, tourism, defence and security and the environment.
To make Natuna a new economic area, Rodhial appealed to all teaching staff to be able to encourage students to continue their college education in accordance with the various fields that are being pursued for accelerated development.
On the same occasion, the Daily Chairperson of the Natuna Geopark Management Agency, Basri, said in his speech that Geopark is the status of developing a conservation area to preserve various regional potentials that are held on a broad (international scale).
According to Basri, Natuna should feel grateful for being the only region in the Riau Islands province to get National Geopark status. This should be an encouragement from all parties, making it an opportunity to participate in developing the region through preservation efforts as well as empowering potential to become valuable.
Basri acknowledged that the management of Natuna Geopark cannot be left to the focus of one Regional Apparatus Organisation alone, this is because the scope of development is so broad, ranging from tourism, education, fisheries and various other sectors.
Basri expressed his gratitude to the teachers, for inviting the students here to participate. He hopes that in the future students can take part in joint efforts to develop this area through the Natuna Geopark programme.
For your information, the Natuna Geopark Management Board plans to hold meetings with students in various regions, such as Jogjakarta and Kalimantan to socialise with the Natuna Geopark Programme.
This is intended to provoke the interest of students to be able to contribute to promoting Natuna as an effort to build branding at the national and international levels. (Pro_kopim/Endang)
