Based on data obtained from the Directorate of Corruption at the Criminal Investigation Unit of the National Police, Riau Islands Province has the second lowest number of corruption offences related to the implementation of the village budget, after Yogyakarta Province in the 2015-2022 timeframe.
This shows the seriousness of the Riau Islands Provincial Government in supporting anti-corruption actions on all fronts, down to the village government level, by involving various elements of both law enforcement officials and the community who act as a monitoring system, transparent budget management and improving service quality.
This was conveyed by the Regent of Natuna, Wan Siswandi, when officially opening the Natuna Regency Anticorruption Village Socialisation, held at the Women's Building on Batu Sisir Bukit Arai Street, Ranai, on 8/6.
Present at the event were members of the Regional Leadership Coordination Forum (FKPD) of Regional Apparatus Organisations (OPD), village heads throughout Natuna Regency and the KPK Team as the initiator of the event.
Wan Siswandi added that the amount of village funds is quite large from 2015 (473 billion) to 2023 (576 billion). Given that the funds disbursed for village development are quite large, it is hoped that they can be used according to the best possible designation, because the more funds the greater the responsibility.
To the Corruption Eradication Commission team who had the pleasure of holding this activity in Natuna Regency, Wan Siswandi expressed his gratitude. This is important, as a form of joint commitment for joint efforts to realise an anti-corruption attitude, especially in local government institutions.
On the same occasion, the Community Role Development Specialist from the Corruption Eradication Commission of the Republic of Indonesia, Andika Widiarto, said that in 2021 the village funds were very large, distributed by the President of the Republic of Indonesia to all villages throughout Indonesia, namely approximately 20 trillion, but there were many village officials who misused the village fund budget. This is due to ignorance both in terms of management and accountability administration.
For this reason, his party (KPK RI) took the initiative to invite the ranks of local and village governments to participate in this activity, with the aim of conveying various regulations related to the process, management, supervision and accountability.
Andika added that efforts to prevent acts of corruption are the main strategy that must be carried out. Therefore, community involvement and empowerment as a monitoring system is very important (Pro_kopim/Endang)
