The Vice Regent of Natuna Attends “Jaksa Menyapa” Interactive Program: “To Gain Authority to Manage The Ocean Potential, Natuna Must Become a Special Province”

On Friday Morning (03/02), the Vice Regent of Natuna, Rodhial Huda, attended the “Jaksa Menyapa” Interactive Program, which was also attended by the Prosecutor Head of Natuna, Imam MS Sidabutar, Political, Legal, and Human Rights KSP RI Deputy 5, Mufti Makarimal, and KSP Principal Expert, Ade Irfan Pulungan as a resource person.

Rodhial Huda, one of the speakers during the interactive dialogue, stated that Natuna is still dealing with legal issues that have not been resolved as expected, such as cases of fish theft by foreign fishermen.

Furthermore, he regretted the central government’s policy that the authority to manage marine areas is delegated to the provincial government, considering that 99 percent of this area is marine and has direct borders with neighboring countries.

To address the aforementioned efforts to optimize the potential of the waters, Rodhial believes that making Natuna a special provincial area should be fought for, so that this area has the authority to manage this potential more optimally for the welfare of the local community.

Rodhial concluded his remarks with a Pantoum: ‘Jika makan sarden ambil lah di kuali, hari selasa menunya sambal belacan, pada Undang-Undang pembentukan Kabupaten laut Natuna itu luas sekali, tapi Undang-Undang 23 sejengkal pun tak punya lautan’.

On the occasion, KSP Principal Expert Ade Irfan Pulungan explained that, in terms of legal aspects, border areas have a high tendency to violate the law, especially if the border is water, so protecting the Republic of Indonesia’s sovereign territory requires significant effort.

As a result, the central government continues to strive to strengthen both its military and legal capabilities in order to prevent violations of the law that harm the image of state sovereignty.

Furthermore, Imam MS Sidabutar, Natuna Kajari, explained that in carrying out his duties as a law enforcement officer in the field of prosecution, his party received case handling in 2021 as many as 11 ships, while there were 6 illegal fishing vessels in 2022. In other words, the number of crimes committed by foreigners has decreased. (Pro_kopim/irles)
