The Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Indonesia held a Socialization of Reserve Components Recruitment 2023 on Friday morning (20/01), which was virtually attended by all regional heads throughout Sumatra and the Riau Islands, including the Natuna Regency.
The Regional Secretary Assistant 1 of Natuna Regency, Khaidir SE, represented the Regional Government, as did several Heads of Regional Apparatus Organizations, Dandim 0318/Natuna and staff, as well as representatives from Youth Organizations.
On this occasion the Director General of Pothan Kemhan, Major General TNI Dadang Hendrayudha, explained the map of the strength of military and reserves in the Republic of Indonesia and , in the world where China holds the top position with a population of 1,418,580,000 billion, active troops 2,255,000 million and reserve troops 800,000 thousands.
Indonesia is ranked 14th, with a population of 275,361,267, 445,030 active troops and 6,054 reserves. This numbers are perceived to be very low, and strategic steps to increase military strength are required.
Based on the military strength comparison ratio shown above, the government has implemented a policy to increase the number of national defense reserve components by 2022, as announced by the Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia on September 28th, 2022.
On the same occasion, Brigadier General Rifki Nawawi, Commander of Regional Military Command I/Bukit Barisan represented by Kasdam I/BB, expressed his appreciation for the enthusiasm of the regional heads who participated in this activity.
Rifki explained that the essence of Law No. 23 of 2019 on Management of National Resources for National Defense is to instill a sense of nationalism.
Aside from that, it aims to instill discipline, a spirit of self-sacrifice for the nation and state, a sense of loyalty to Pancasila, and efforts to foster an understanding of defending the country in every Indonesian heart.
Furthermore, Dandim 0318/Natuna, Lt. Col. (Inf) Morison Chandra Karundeng states on the occasion also that this activity aims to open up recruitment opportunities for reserve members particularly from the Riau Islands.
Meanwhile, the existence of Komcad is solely to support the capability of the nation's main component of military power, and if the country ever requires state defense personnel, Komcad will be a supporter of the Indonesian military's main strength. (Pro_kopim/Irles)
