Monday Afternoon (26/07), The Regent of Natuna, Wan Siswandi attends the Opening Ceremony of Regional Student Sports Week (Popda) VII Riau Islands Province at Lembaga Adat Melayu Kabupaten Bintan,
By the theme "Splitting the Ocean towards Glorious Achievements", the contingent of Natuna will participate in 9 branches of competition, which are Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Sepak Takraw, Pencak Silat, Athletics, Badminton, Swimming, and Tennis. The number of contingents is 133 people, consisting of 43 officials and 90 athletes.
Wan Siswandi mentions that POPDA is a multi-sport event of various fields to athletes at the Riau Islands Province level, attended by 6 districts and cities throughout the Riau Islands Province. This event aims to select the potential students in the sports field, the opportunity to make achievements to make each of the region proud, either at the provincial level, or at the national level.
Earlier on last Thursday (21/07), Wan Siswandi in his speech, points out that all the athletes to try their best, but do not push themselves too hard when dispatches the contingent of Natuna for POPDA at the Women’s Building, Batu Sisir St. Bukit Arai.
Furthermore, Wan Siswandi instructs the contingent of Natuna to pray on every occasion, because effort without prayer means nothing.
Wan Siswandi also requires the athletes to always display sportsmanship, to develop good communication with either the official athletes or the coaches and to maintain the cohesiveness of the contingent of Natuna; hope the athletes are able to make achievements and make the region proud in this event.
